Damaging Effects of Active Oxygen

Active oxygen is the intermediate product during the reduction process of oxygen. They include organic or inorganic oxygen ion, peroxides and free radicals etc.

Excessive active oxygen (O2) will destroy collagen and elastin of skin cells that tighten the skin. Results in slackened skin and the formation of wrinkles.

Active O2 will also stimulate pigment cells to produce melanin that causes melasma.
